Summer is more than half way over, but it’s never too late to plan ways to have fun! The best way to keep you and your kids sane this summer is to keep them busy with fun, engaging and educational activities. When kids are engaged in a fun activity, they also tend to get along better with their siblings and friends plus they usually mind and follow directions better.
We all know summer can be super hectic, but it’s also a great time to slow down and spend some quality time with the kids. Planning a fun and organized summer is a way to build relationships and catch up on each other’s lives.
Youth Services has a vast knowledge of what’s available in the community and is a great resource for family fun. Some ideas: take a picnic to the park and feed the ducks, enroll your child in a summer camp, go to a free outdoor movie, go hiking…so many free and fun things to do in Salt Lake! When is the last time you went to the water park or children’s museum with your child? For some more ideas go to Yellow Pages for Youth , Utah Family calendar, or this great blog with tons of free ideas. You can also check out the Salt Lake County Library or call 211 (run by The Utah Food Bank) for a directory of activities. Whatever you do, be sure to enjoy the warm weather while you can. Have a great summer!
