Message from the Director
We have entered an era of change and challenge at Youth Services!
We are disappointed to announce that after more than a decade of serving low-income youth through our Youth EmployAbility Services Program, the contract will now be taken over by the Department of Workforce Services. More information is available on our blog and in the newsletter articles.
We are also facing a challenging budget year and will continue to look for ways to do more with less as we prepare for potential budget cuts and hiring freezes. I will be championing Youth Services cause from a different light this year as I have accepted a one-year appointment as the Associate Director of the Salt Lake County Department of Human Services. While I will miss working on a daily basis with the staff and the youth, I will enjoy shining a light on the great work happening at Youth Services from a position of leadership in the county.
I am leaving the agency in good hands and am pleased to introduce Carolyn Hansen as the Acting-In Youth Services Director for the next year. She has been managing our Christmas Box House Program for the past 4 years and brings to the table a broad experience of management from her years with the Division of Child and Family Services.
I will continue to work closely with her in the months ahead and look forward to hearing the great accomplishments that are sure to happen in my absence. While faces and programs may change, one constant is the need for caring people to work together for the better of youth and families in our community. We appreciate your partnership in making this happen.
