The Utah Executive Appropriation Committee has voted to recommend zero funding in the next year for Juvenile Receiving Centers statewide. The committee will be making the final vote on the budget TODAY!
For every dollar spent on providing coordinated intervention services through the Juvenile Receiving Centers, taxpayers save $5 in future costs associated with crime and delinquency. Last year, Receiving Centers allowed law enforcement to spend an additional 7,500 hours patrolling our neighborhoods rather than processing youth.
