Milestone Participants Volunteer During World Refugee Day

Last month, Milestone participants and staff had the opportunity to volunteer at the World Refugee Day at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City.

At the event there were large bounce houses and slides, food vendors, cultural souvenirs, and a large stage for entertainment. Throughout the day there was music and dancing representing all of the different cultures that were participating. In addition, several people were sworn in as U.S. citizens and our National Anthem was performed during the ceremony.

Milestone participants volunteered their time by supervising children as they played so they could enjoy the day safely allowing adults to experience the day’s festivities.

“I had so much fun participating at this event,” said Nick Nahalewski, a Milestone participant. “I was able to learn so much about many different cultures in our city.”
