Salt Lake County Library Services has a great new online service that offers live tutoring for K-12th grade.

Brainfuse is available to anyone with a Salt Lake County Library card. To get started, log on with a library card number, then pick a grade and subject. Options range from reading and math for younger students to various sciences, social studies, English, and many more for older students. All tutors have prior tutoring or teaching experience and 80% have a masters or PhD in their field. Live tutoring is available from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. MST, seven days a week.

brain2In the tutoring whiteboard there is a chat box where students can instant message back and forth with their tutor while working on problems in the bigger white board space.

There’s also a “Writing Lab” where students can upload a paper for review by a writing expert and receive helpful comments and recommendations. The “Send Questions” option allows students to also submit a homework related question. Responses to both the Writing Lab and Send Questions usually take just one business day. There are skill building sections and flashcards for a variety of subjects and grade ranges.

For questions about Live Tutoring K-12, JobNow, or Brainfuse you can call 801-943-4636 or stop by your local Salt Lake County Library.
